Welcome

Message from the Director

What's going on at Y-ACES??

Welcome back to another year of after-school programming!  We are very excited to share our plans for this year.  We have been doing a lot of research on exciting activities and fun topics we can provide to all of our students.  We feel proud of our program and continuously work to provide innovative, creative, and safe places for students to continue their learning after-school.  Some exciting learning opportunities will consist of the introduction of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).  Our staff receive multiple in depth trainings to be able to provide these great and engaging hands-on opportunities.  In addition, we have different rotating enrichment instructors visiting all of our schools. Ballet Folklorico will expose students to traditional music, dance, and culture. Our Drama instructor will expose students to the world of theatre.

We started the year by taking over 200 students to the LA County Fair in spirit of West Covina Day!  Our students represented their respective schools and cheered for their after-school Y-ACES program.

This year we have started our year with a Resource Campaign that will help us bring more resources to all of our sites.  Please see the events section of our page to find out more details.  Our goal is to collect enough books to fill up our rotating libraries at each school site.  When parents walk in to their after-school site, they will see students reading for 20 minutes every day.  This year we are implementing STOP, DROP, & READ at all of our sites.

We are always thinking of new ideas while planning our next event.   At Y-ACES, our staff is dedicated to providing the best customer service.  We are committed to the West Covina Unified School District vision to uncompromising excellence in education and citizenship.  We thank all the committed school staff, parents, and Administrators for their support and strong relationship!

Thank you,

About The Y-ACES Program

Y-ACES is an after school academic enrichment program that provides opportunities for growth, learning, and development. Students are involved in a wide range of activities such as; homework assistance, character development, physical education, health and nutrition, enrichment activities, theme based activities, and computer programs.

Program staff and school teachers work together to help your child improve in all areas that may need additional support. Y-ACES is committed to providing a safe, enriching environment where we demonstrate and model the four core YMCA values of caring, respect, responsibility, and honesty.

The program operates daily from school dismissal until 6:00pm Monday through Friday. Since our program is funded by the state, they require that children attend 3 hours daily and 5 days a week. Cost of the program is $30.00 per month per child. Our program is offered at the following school sites:

California Elementary

Cameron Elementary

Edgewood Middle School

Merced Elementary

Merlinda Elementary

Monte Vista Elementary

Orangewood Elementary

Walnut Grove Middle School

Wescove Elementary
