Pacing Guides

Think of pacing guides as timelines.  Pacing guides indicate the subject matter that is to be covered during the semester or school year. Based on district and state objectives, pacing guides follow a logical sequence within a grade level and between grade levels and help coordinate teaching efforts district wide.  In the event that students move from one school to another within West Covina Unified School District, they can be assured of receiving consistent quality instruction.

Our pacing guides may include a schedule of when benchmark assessments will be administered. The benchmark assessments are critical in allowing teachers know what students are learning, who is and who is not learning at the recommended pace.  West Covina Unified School District has a plan in place designed for those who are not keeping pace by providing appropriate instructional support including intervention.
