Program Testimony

Choosing a program with a good reputation

The program meets my girl’s needs by allowing them to get help with their homework done.  It also allows me to work full-time, if I did not have this program I would not be able to work.  What also helps is that the price is very affordable for having four kids in the program. The reason I picked the Y-ACES is because the YMCA has a good reputation. When I was younger I attended the YMCA in St. Louis.  I have always been a supporter of the YMCA. The program staff really cares about my girls. The program has allowed the girls to build team skills. It also gives them a chance to participate in outside activities, since they do not get outside time at home. They get to socialize, build friendships, and help others with homework as well.

Sharing what's learned at Y-ACES

Both my husband and I work full time, so we needed somewhere safe to have Angela afterschool. The cost of the program also helps us financially. We would not be able to afford other programs. We chose Y-ACES because it was different from other daycares and programs. Angela has time to get her homework done and gets help if she needs it. The students get to do different activities like sports, science and learn new things. My daughter comes home and shares all the information she has learned during the day and is excited to teach us some of the things. Her socialization skills have grown a lot. She has become more outgoing and open with sharing. Her academics are better because she gets the help she needs with homework. Her personality has bloomed over the past 3 years she’s been in Y-ACES. I’m happy with the young person she’s growing up to be.

Teaching positive values

The reason I chose Y-ACES for my children was because it was helpful to me that the program is offered on school campus. I do not have to worry about finding transportation for them to get to another location. This program provides adult supervision after school while still implementing academics. This program is also very cost efficient for my family considering I have had all 5 of my children in the program. Child care elsewhere is too expensive, and Y-ACES is affordable and academically beneficial for my children. My children get a variety of academics and enrichment activities such as, exercise, art, music, and computers.

This program has impacted my family and I in a positive way. For me, it is a load off my shoulder knowing my children are safe after school in a structured program. I work full time and it helps me that my children can get their homework done at Y-ACES; it gives my family more quality time because when they do get home we do not have to worry about homework. This program also teaches my children about values, which is great because it reinforces the same values I teach my children at home. Y-ACES is a good place for my children, I am glad we can be a part of it.

A safe Place!

I really needed a safe place for my son (Juan) to go after school. Trying to find a good program that is affordable is really hard.  I work nights, so having a group of people caring for him and helping him with his school work is great. I know when he goes to Y-ACES after school, he is safe. It gives me peace of mind. Juan use to stay home with my brother after school, but he really needed extra structure to help with school. Since he has been in Y-ACES, his school work has improved. And it is nice to know there is someone who knows how to help him when he gets stuck on his homework. He also has loads of fun when he is there with his friends and his Y-ACES teacher, Mr. Daniel. It is another added bonus that makes this program so wonderful.  I love this program. There are not enough words to explain how much Y-ACES has helped me and my family, and my son.
