The West Covina Police Department (WCPD) has just implemented an innovative new program designed, in great part, to reach students and increase campus safety.  The Department realizes that the trend of texting and web-based communication is a growing and has partnered with Citizen Observer to make the “TIPWCPD” program available.  This programs will enable WCPD's dispatch center to directly receive and reply to text and web messages from the public. Messages sent via text message or web messaging are completely anonymous and are designed to eliminate the fear of reprisal that is often a barrier to effective communication between the police and the public. The availability of anonymous text and web messaging increases the flow of information to WCPD and provides the public with an alternative way to communicate for those who might otherwise feel reluctant to contact the WCPD using traditional methods.

To send an anonymous tip via text message of the West Covina Police Department, text “TIPWCPD” (without quotes) and your tip to 847411 or TIP411. Web text messages including photographs may be sent through the West Covina Police Department website at www.wcpd.org. Please continue to call 911 for all emergencies to avoid unnecessary delays.
